VOZ NYC Author José Martínez to Present Your English is Great, But… at the 19th Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens

New York, NY — VOZ NYC is proud to announce that journalist and author José Martínez will present his debut book, Your English is Great, But…, at the 19th Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens, NY, October 10–12, 2025, hosted at the Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights.

Martínez will appear on Saturday, October 11 at 3:10 p.m. for a special reading and conversation about language, identity, and belonging.

“This is more than a book presentation — it’s a homecoming,” said Martínez. “Jackson Heights is where my story as a journalist began, reporting for El Diario and NY1 Noticias. Returning now as an author with Your English is Great, But… is deeply meaningful.”

Published under VOZ NYC, Your English is Great, But… blends memoir and essay to explore migration, grief, resilience, and the spaces between cultures. The book amplifies the mission of VOZ NYC: to create platforms for underrepresented voices and narratives.

The Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens, organized by the Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center of New York, is one of the longest-running Latino literary festivals in the United States. Each year it gathers writers, poets, artists, and readers for three days of programming. The 2025 edition is dedicated to Dominican author Dagoberto López-Coño.
